Paul's Himalayan Musk Rose

We recently visited the fabulous rose garden of Anne and Max Belovich in Stanwood, Wa.! This crabapple tree blooms twice; once with it's own blossoms in spring and again with Paul's Himalayan Musk Rose later in June! This is just one rose and it's perfect trellis, the tree! Ruth Mano, on the left and I are both about 5' tall so you can see how huge this rose is! This sight inspired me to put a Paul's into my Korean Ash tree in the front garden. In a just a few years, I hope it will look as fantastic as this in our display garden! We have lots of Paul's Himalayan left if you want to try this in your own garden!

Our greenhouse manager Donna Schmauch on early Monday morning picking out roses for shipping. Our mail order customers have been ecstatic with the roses they have been receiving in the mail. If you have been hesitating this comment from a recent mail order customer might convince you. "

This delightful pair will be part of the entertainment staff as well as Night Security for those 4-footed, uninvited guests! Please come and meet this lively pair who have us in stitches with their antics such as making themselves at home in the basket of gloves in our Sales Cottage! What a Pair!

Roses, Roses and more Roses!

These two roses, Golden Celebration and Hot Cocoa were blooming side by side in the greenhouse and color combination caught my eye. I think Julia Child and Hot Cocoa would be striking companions in the garden.

April Pruning Seminar

Spokane Rose Society held a pruning seminar here on Saturday. There were 40 plus people in the garden and we had a very informative day. Heather Figg, Loren Moll and Lynn Schafer did the actual pruning and they had their work cut out for them. Heather and Loren tackled a big rugosa called Conrad F. Meyer and a large climber called Collete. Lynn gave a demonstration on a Hybrid Tea's with some good information on tools and gloves. Lynn is available as a Master Rosarium to answer your questions about pruning. Check out the Spokane Rose Society at www.geocities.com/spokanerosesociety for Lynn Schafer's phone and other Master Rosarium's. Heather and Loren can be reached at 509-448-1436 to help you with your pruning questions. Many thanks to these hardworking Rosariums.

Pruning Seminar

Spokane Rose Society was scheduled to hold a Pruning Seminar at the Rosarium on Saturday, March 29th. Here is what the Rosarium looked like on that day. Needless to say, SRS has rescheduled the Seminar for April 12th at 11:00. I hope those of you planning to come will be available on the 12th. We are going to prune a Hybrid Tea, a Climber and a very out-of-control Rugosa called "Conrad F. Meyer." Join us if you can. The Rosarium will be open on April 9th. That would be a good time to pick up your fertilizer and soil amendments. See you then!
